ISSUE SUMMARY

Cover Description: Aquaman, Batman, Flash III, Green Lantern Kyle Rayner, and Robin III leap forward towards the viewer. (No Booster Gold.)

Brief Synopsis: The Justice League answers a distress call on an island where all is not as it seems.

Costume Worn: MARK X armored power-suit

Issue Notes: This series was created to serve two purposes: promote an upcoming Kenner toy line, and bridge the gap between the canceled Justice League titles and the relaunch of the Justice League franchise by writer Grant Morrison in the series JLA. The Total Justice toy line was ultimately unsuccessful and was canceled before the fourth wave of toys was released. No Booster Gold figure was planned for the toy line.

ISSUE ANNOTATIONS

Page 15, panel 2
Justice League members present at the orbiting Justice League Refuge for Martian Manhunter's briefing about a recent distress call include Amazing Man II, Blue Beetle II, Booster Gold (with built-in Skeets), Captain Atom, Firestorm V, Glenn Gammeron, Gypsy, Maxima, Ray II, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Zan and Jayna.

Page 16, panel 2
An argument between Booster Gold and Gypsy about whether the operation to save Flash III and Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner) should be conducted by the Extreme Justice or Justice League Task Force teams is interrupted by the arrival of Batman, who excludes either team from participating because all members, save Blue Beetle, need their powers to participate, powers which will not work on the island. Thus Booster is excluded from active duty in this issue because his power-suit will presumably not function on the island.

ISSUE REVIEW

Boosterrific Review: Why DC would ever think that this comic book would sell toys is beyond me: it looks bad and reads worse. Calling the book unpleasant is an oversimplification.

Boosterrific Rating:

Fool's Gold.
