ISSUE ANNOTATIONS

Page 7, panel 1
FIRST APPEARANCE: First post-Crisis on Infinite Earths appearance of intergalactic bounty hunter (and mass-murderer) Lobo. Lobo is a favorite of Justice League International writer Keith Giffen, so his appearance as a foe of the Justice League shouldn't be much of a surprise.

Page 20, panel 3
With Martian Manhunter, Rocket Red, Big Barda, and G'Nort in space searching for Mister Miracle, Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, Green Flame, Guy Gardner, Ice Maiden, and Oberon debate holding a membership drive for the League. Booster clearly doesn't like the idea, preferring the elite status that Justice League membership confers.

Page 20, panel 5
Continuing with the recent deluge of Star Trek references, Guy Gardner is shown reading a copy of I Am Not Spock, Star Trek actor Leonard Nimoy's 1977 autobiography.

Page 21, panel 1
When a Boom Tube opens in the New York JLI Embassy, Gardner takes another knock on the back of the head by the emerging Lobo, and at long last he returns to his nasty, oafish personality. Boom Tubes are the primary means of inter-spatial travel used by New Gods such as Mister Miracle. They are characterized by a loud "boom" noise. This is Booster's first encounter with either a Boom Tube or Lobo.

ISSUE REVIEW

Boosterrific Review: Never is there a dull moment for the Justice League or readers of this highly-entertaining comic book. By now Keith Giffen and J.M. DeMatteis have perfected their style of storytelling for the comedy of errors that constitute the adventures of the Justice League International. Assuaging any fears that the writers' farce may be just a little too silly are artists Kevin Maguire and Al Gordon, who ably provide a realistic visual grounding for the series. This is truly a "comic" book.

Fun issue as the new Guy returns back to the old Guy. I love the yuppy league line.
